How do I find Seldovia?
Seldovia is located 150 air miles from Anchorage, due South, across Kachemak Bay from Homer.
Can I drive to Seldovia?
No. You can drive to Homer, and then take either an air taxi or water taxi the 17 miles to Seldovia.
We are pet friendly.
Is there air transportation directly from Anchorage?
Yes. There is a commercial air carrier that can fly you directly from Lake Hood, in Anchorage to the Seldovia airport.
How long will it take to travel from Anchorage to Seldovia?
The car trip averages 5 hours from Anchorage to Homer. The air taxi from Homer to Seldovia is approximately 15 minutes and the water taxi is approximately 1 to 2 hours.

What can I expect when I get to Seldovia?
A phone call to Dancing Eagles before you leave Homer will assure we will meet you at the airport or boat harbor for the short trip to our facilities.
If I have reservations for the cabin what can I expect?
The Dancing Eagles Cabin is a wonderful vintage Cabin (Historical Carpenter Shop converted to a cabin) (the ridge beam in the cabin is from an old sailing schooner) built on the waters edge and completely surrounded by decks and walkways. You provide your own meals in the cabin. The cabin is a roomy facility that comfortably accommodates 6 adults. Sleeping arrangement include a queen-bed in a main level bedroom, and 4 single beds in a sleeping loft. The kitchen is furnished with dishes, pots and pans, stove, refrigerator, dishwasher, and double sink. The bath is furnished with towels, soap and tissue. The living space has a large table and six chairs, 2 sofas and 3 upholstered chairs.
Is there a view from the cabin?
Yes, the cabin has a fantastic view of the small boat harbor, Seldovia Bay and Mt. Illiamna from the full picture windows and the private deck The sunsets are awesome. Bring lots of film.
Do I need to bring food and drink?
Seldovia has a market that sells nearly everything. Food and beverages purchased locally will be about 30% higher to account for transportation costs. Many people do bring their own provisions.
What if I want to avoid cooking all together! Are there restaurants in Seldovia?
Seldovia has great espresso type facilities, a world class lunch and dinner restaurant, several burger and steak places, and even an ice cream and fast food shop.
Is Dancing Eagles handicap accessible?
Yes, we have served guests who were wheel chair accommodated in the Cabin.
Are children welcome at Dancing Eagles?
We pride ourselves on being a child-friendly facility, however young children must be fully supervised because of the water and rocky areas surrounding the property.
Are pets welcome at Dancing Eagles?
Sorry. We do not have the facilities to accommodate pets.
Does Dancing Eagles provide sports gear or fishing gear?
No. Local merchants rent mountain bikes, ATVs and kayaks. See the www.seldoviachamber.org link for information. Fishing licenses and lures can be purchased locally, but no one rents poles or nets.
Are there fishing charters out of Seldovia?
Yes. Both halibut and salmon charters are very popular with guests. Again, check the www.seldoviachamber.org link for information.
